ThunderBolts Win Championship

Last night the Windy City ThunderBolts beat the Kalamazoo Kings 6-5 to sweep the Kings and win The Fl Championship. The 'Bolts thus become only the second team in the history of the FL to win consecutive titles, the first being Richmond in 2001-02.

Congratulations to the T-Bolts, the organization and their fans on a great 2008 season.

WHOOOOOO!!! What a year for the Thunderbolts! It was a great close game last night, K-zoo almost stayed alive. Hats off to them.

Let's make it 3 next year!

Sorry you didn't get to see a clinching championship game Tim.

Well this championship isnt as nice as last years for Windy City becasue it was basically given to them. Kalamazoo was robbed of a chance to win. Didnt even get one home game. Ridiculous.

Sour grapes.

I went to all of those games, first thing, how were they "robbed of a chance to win" are they incapable of winning games on the road? I don't recall Bill Lee spotting the 'Bolts 8 runs a game. Homer Stryker field was under 3 feet of water, and I'm sure the Kings were a part of the decision to play all of the games in Crestwood.

Second, the Kings were the "home team" in games 1 and 2. They had the last at bat, and heck even the home uniforms, along with their personal cheering section that followed them over here and sat behind their dugout. It's not perfect, but we did our best to give them their home field advantage.

Third, the first two games weren't even close. We got off runs early, and kept adding to them, Ross Stout completely shut them down Tuesday, and Amos Ramon and Jason Lowey shut them down Wed. Thursday's game was the only close game in the series, and that's the game that would have been our home game anyway.

Maybe if it were close I'd say your argument held more water (pun NOT intended), but it was a sweep, and the first two games of that sweep weren't even close. If the Kings can't even take one away game, even ones where they're getting the home field perks, do they really deserve to win?

Im just saying that it wasent a fair shot for Kalamazoo. Im in Traverse City so I dont have any ties to either team in the series. However I just think that Games three four and five should have been moved back to Kzoo. i be;ieve thay the field was drained and back in shape. This would have helped in the fairness of the series. Congrats to Windy City though. just dont think Kzoo fot a fair shot.
